Katy's Original Compositions
Most of my own original music reflects my own spiritual orientation of finding holiness in many forms, and in particular, in the Earth and in the Feminine.
Many pieces were inspired by actual Celtic prayers, which weave a simple, folky connection of Earth, Mother, and Christianity. I found myself reading or praying them and a melody would well up in me. I've edited and adapted some of the original texts, adding the the Goddess (hearkening back to pre-Christian Celtic spirituality). What I love about these prayers is their connection to Earth, to everyday activities -- that we are not separate, but are a part of normal life, from getting up in the morning, to going to bed at night. This is how I'd like to experience my own life more.

Meditation
Singing Meditation
Singing Meditation was created by Ruthie Rosauer. In this participatory singing, we sing simple chants and rounds in a group and then dissolve into silence for moments of meditation and stillness together. Then out of that stillness, we start to sing again.
This is a form of group spiritual practice, and is open to anyone who wants to sing. All the songs are simple and sung through many times so that there is time to learn them. The rounds and chants come from many spiritual traditions, are in English, as well as other languages, and express universal themes of devotion and spiritual practice.
Workshops
Hildegard von Bingen—Visionary Chant
Hildegard was a 12th century German abbess
who received music through divinely inspired visions. Her music is
mysterious, flowing, luminous, earthy, passionate. Katy offers a brief
overview of Hildegard's life and remarkable contributions, as well as
an introduction to the structure and tonality of medieval chant as found
in her music.
This workshop can be presented in two hours or expanded to a full day,
and is open to anyone who would like to experience Hildegard's music in
a deeper, richer, more embodied manner.
